Aston – June 24, 2020 – The Sun East Charitable Foundation, a community outreach and charitable-giving extension of Sun East Federal Credit Union, recently named local resident and Sun East team member, Terri Lannon, as the successor to retiring Executive Director, Denise Romanelli.

Terri is a fixture in the local Aston community and has been part of the Sun East Executive Management team since 1997; her volunteer service includes 8 years as a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, as well as the Executive Board, while also serving in the capacity of Community Impact Chair for a portion of that time. She often participates in community outreach and educational events with the Penn Delco School District and CityTeam of Chester.

When asked why this role is so important to her, Terri responded, “I am excited to assume the role of Executive Director at such a critical time in our world. I look forward to the impact myself, our Board, and our volunteers can have working together with current and new community partners to fulfill our mission of serving the health, education, and overall well-being of children, families, and veterans in the Greater Brandywine Valley.” She went on to commend her predecessor’s accomplishments, “Denise Romanelli did a tremendous job leading the Foundation and establishing relationships with community leaders in support of many youth development initiatives and multiple humanitarian efforts. Since 2011, fundraisers and special events led by Denise and her team of volunteers facilitated over $250,000 in donations reaching local beneficiaries like CADES, Elwyn, Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans, Springfield Area Educational Foundation, SOAR, Child Resource Guidance Centers, Lighthouse Youth Center, Boys & Girls Club of Chester, and countless other deserving organizations. She was also instrumental in developing an annual awards and scholarships program for teachers and students of local area schools. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help expand the legacy of service and generosity that Denise helped establish.”

The Sun East Charitable Foundation leadership team consisting of 4 volunteer officers and 5 volunteer Board of Directors, was led by Denise Romanelli, since its inception in April 2011, when it was chartered as a 501c3 Public Charity. Leading the foundation enabled Denise to serve as a liaison between Sun East and the many charitable organizations in the communities surrounding its branches and corporate headquarters. After numerous years with Sun East, and serving in multiple professional capacities, as well as that of Executive Director for the Foundation, her retirement is hard-earned and well-deserved. She leaves a legacy of dedicated community service and volunteerism, educational development, and corporate philanthropy that upholds the credit union philosophy of People Helping People.

Sun East Federal Credit Union, founded in 1949, is a full-service, not-for-profit financial institution serving the savings, borrowing, investing, and virtual banking needs of nearly 52,000 members, 1,200 employers, and multiple other organizations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Sun East has over $700 million in assets with branches throughout the Tri-State area, nationwide ATM access, as well as online and mobile banking. Support of local charitable and community outreach initiatives on behalf of Sun East are facilitated through the Sun East Charitable Foundation.
